The big three, part iv.
It’s Monday. I’m betting you already knew that. But anyway, here’s a trifecta of punk — my brand of panacea — to make the day a wee bit more bearable.
First, The Amps — Kim Deal’s band post-Pixies, post-Breeders — kicking “Full on Idle,” a tune that would later be released on The Breeders album Title TK.
Second, here’s The Hives blasting “Hate to Say I Told You So” on Conan O’Brien. I’m telling ya: just wait for the bridge, people, just wait for the bridge.
Third? The Pixies, the band that birthed Nirvana. The song? “Bone Machine.” My second band, Nasty Aunt Francis, a country-punk outfit, used to play this song. While that band didn’t really go anywhere, the members now belong to Arorak, Heartbreak Orchestra, Cropchecker, Furlough, and Arrow Sparrow. (You can buy albums by Cropchecker and Heartbreak Orchestra here and here, respectively.) Check them, yo. Enjoy the rock.
